In April, the housekeepers of the life and craft farms invite you to three thematic master classes, the Jelgava Regional Tourism Center informs.

As part of the Zemgale pastal exhibition, which is on view at the Life and Crafts Farm until April 30, interested parties are invited to a pastal making master class, which will take place on April 6 at 11 a.m. During the master class, led by Agrita Krieviņa-Siliņa, participants will be able to learn how pastals were made in the past, which is characteristic For the pastals of the Zemgale region and what should be taken into account when creating these shoes. Agrita Krieviņa-Siliņa is a researcher of ancient leather shoes, a practical assistant professor at the Design and Technology Center of Riga Technical University, the creator and leader of the pastal-making master classes “100 pastalas”. The participation fee in the master class is 45 euros per person. All necessary materials will be provided. Those interested are invited to apply for participation in time by calling 26438678.
On the other hand, as part of the “Meet your master” event, the hostesses of “Austras raktu” offer two master classes.
On April 20, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., we invite you to the master class “Weaving Zemgale patterned breeches on a loom with a pull device and yarn dyeing”, during which you will have the opportunity to watch breeches weaving demonstrations, get to know the sewing technique, view breeche pattern samples and woven breeches, as well as dye them yourself yarn with vegetable dyes in the renovated mantle chimney of the Life and Crafts farm. The participation fee in the yarn dyeing master class is 7 euros per person, while watching the brunch weaving demonstrations is free of charge. The master class must be pre-registered.

But on April 21 at 12 o’clock, those interested with prior registration have the opportunity to participate in the rye bread baking master class. During the activity, the participants will have the opportunity to learn about the masters of rye bread baking, listen to stories about bread baking traditions in Zemgale, as well as create and bake their own rye bread loaf in the wood-fired oven of the farm. The participation fee is 7 euros per person. The number of participants is limited.

For individual visitors, the Farm of Life and Crafts is available from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrance fee for adults 5 euros, pupils, students, seniors 2 euros, family ticket 10 euros.
