Between March 19 and March 25, the Riga Municipal Police (RPP) registered 4,204 incidents.

Among them, the largest number of events was in the RPP Latgale administration – almost 20% of all registered events. In total, RPP initiated 1221 administrative violation proceedings for various violations during this time period.

A man’s revelry in Old Riga on the night of March 22 ended with an expensive fine, when a few hours after midnight he decided to take care of his natural needs and relieve himself at the foot of the Freedom Monument, in Freedom Square.

This was noticed by the RPP law enforcement officer who inspected the vicinity of the Freedom Monument at night. The police officer immediately went to the violator, who, seeing the law enforcement officer, continued to behave defiantly and bravely. Personal data was checked at the scene. The man experienced a real shock when he found out about the consequences of his actions – for showing open disrespect to the Freedom Monument, he will have to pay an expensive fine – 1000 EUR.

On a weekly basis, the number of minors coming under the attention of the RPP increased by 158, compared to two previous weeks, when they were 137 every week. During this period, the RPP registered a total of 25 events related to family conflicts. On the other hand, the video surveillance center of the RPP recorded 34 violations on video cameras.
