On Thursday, LFF signed a three-year contract with the retail network SIA “Lidl Latvija” for cooperation in girls’ football. Cooperation provides not only the organization of championships for girls U-8 to U-16 age groups, but also help with equipment.
“LFF’s strategy for the next five, six years is for women’s football to become the most popular women’s sport in the country,” said Gaidel.
On the other hand, Nina Travkina, head of the Development Department of LFF, emphasized that the goal of the organization is to increase the number of girls in football. According to her, the LFF is moving in the right direction, as the number of both players and teams increases.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Football League (SFL) has for the first time in history acquired a title sponsor and it is SIA “Luckybet”, the tournament will be called the “Lucky Bet” Women’s Football League from now on. A three-year agreement has also been concluded with the title sponsor.
“We want to present women’s football in a beautiful way, so that people have the desire to attend not only men’s league matches, but also women’s league matches on the weekend. We would like it to be a celebration not only on the field, but also on it. We also expect that women’s football will also have its own derbies ,” emphasized Travkina.
“The first steps have been taken, creating more and more social network content for women’s football. It is necessary to start with small, small steps and actions,” said “Metta” football player Amelia Lipšane.
The first championship matches will be held on March 29 and 30. The matches of the tournament will be broadcast on the Latvian football live streaming platform “futbols.tv”.
