“AkvaLab Liepāja” was made in Lithuania, and on Saturday everyone was welcome to get acquainted with the unusual watercraft and get an idea of what a water laboratory means. There was a lot of interest – many people wanted to “throw a lap” around the lake, so we had to arm ourselves with patience while waiting in line.
It was worth it, the testers of the “ship” admitted later, returning to the shore. In parallel, outdoor workshops and activities related to nature and environmental research were available.
The watercraft is intended for educational purposes and scientific research activities. On a daily basis, the students of “AkvaLab Liepāja” will be able to collect samples of water and the organisms in it – zooplankton, phytoplankton, benthos – in the real environment with various water research tools, perform physicochemical measurements of water transparency, pH level using a pH meter probe, oxygen and other measurements, and all the obtained release aquatic organisms back into the Liepāja lake without causing them any harm.
