Allowance for supporting a large family can be received within the calendar year – ZZ.lv

Families with many children in the Jelgava region have the opportunity to receive three benefits of the municipality’s voluntary initiative: for each child in the family, you can receive 15 euros per month to cover the participation fees of vocational education, interest education programs and to cover the fees of private practice pedagogue classes, 80 euros per year to partially cover expenses related to health care and for the start of the school year at an educational institution – 50 euros per year (the allowance can be requested in the period from August 1 to November 30). The first two types of support are paid out on the basis of documents justifying the expenses, the county municipality informs.

“In order to qualify for the benefit, the family must have at least three children in their care, including children in foster care or guardianship and adults who have not reached the age of 24, if they obtain general, professional, higher education or present a valid Latvian Honorary Family Certificate, as the place of residence of one legal representative of a large family and at least three children must also be declared in the administrative territory of the municipality of Jelgava region. It should be noted that the benefit is granted within the current calendar year, therefore the payment documents, which indicate the details of the payee, the purpose of the payment, the child’s name, and the personal identification number, must also be issued within the given year. After receiving the application, no later than one month, a decision is made on granting the benefit, its amount and payment or refusal. If the decision was positive, the benefit will be paid to the current account of the credit institution indicated in the application within five working days,” explains Karīna Voitkāne, head of the Welfare Administration.

In order to receive one of the benefits for the support of a large family, a person must submit an application to the Welfare Administration – in person at Pasta Street 37, Jelgava, at the unified customer service centers of the state and municipalities located in the parishes of the region, or electronically by sending to an e-mail address using the portal latvija.lv or signed with a secure electronic signature by sending to the e-mail address [email protected]. Income forms are available on the website of the municipality.
