Riga City Council will borrow 25.2 million euros for the creation of six mobility points, Riga City Council decided today.

Such points are planned to be created at the railway stations “Bolderāja”, “Dauderi”, “Sarkandaugava”, “Šķirotava”, “Zemitāni” and “Ziemeļblāzma”, using financing from the European Union Recovery Fund, in parallel taking a loan from the State Treasury.

The loan is planned to be taken for a period of up to 20 years with the deferred payment of the loan principal amount up to three years.

Mobility points in Riga are planned to be built for a total of 33.4 million euros. Within the framework of this project, the improvement of the territory adjacent to six railway stations – “Bolderāja”, “Dauderi”, “Sarkandaugava”, “Šķirotava”, “Zemitāni” and “Ziemeļblāzma” – will be carried out, ensuring the connection of the railway station platform with the existing traffic infrastructure.

Primarily, it is planned to create a traffic infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists and users of micromobility tools, public transport infrastructure, secondarily, it is planned to provide access for cars with the possibility of temporary stopping at the connection points, in order to have as little impact as possible on the environment and living conditions of the residents of the surrounding area.

It is expected that the development of the construction project will be completed at the end of 2024 and the construction of mobility points will be carried out within 12 months from the start of construction works.
