There was a high response in the big cleaning this year – 1149 cleaning places were cleaned

On Saturday, 1149 cleanup areas were cleaned in the Great Cleanup, LETA agency was informed by the organizers of the Great Cleanup.

The organizers of the event also note that this year there was a high response from the residents.

This year, both garbage collection and beautification, as well as cleaning of basements, were implemented.

Scavengers found tires, furniture, construction debris, various household items, including metal objects lifted from the water, tires and bottles.

On the other hand, a large-format painting, about 40 lamp televisions were found in the cleaning of basements in Riga, and a bar installed at an unknown time was demolished in the shelter of Siegfried Anna Meierovics. Various household items and a gas mask were found in the cellars in Ogre.

This year, young guards, national guardsmen, as well as soldiers of NATO allied forces also participated in the clearing.

The tradition of the Great Cleanup began with cleanup on September 13, 2008, which was a gift from the population to Latvia on its 90th birthday. So far, about 500,000 participants have taken part in the cleanup, and compared to the first years of the cleanup, the amount of waste has decreased by more than half.
