To determine which of the European Day projects submitted in the project competition organized by the foundation “Liepāja 2027” (Liepāja 2027) will receive funding for the implementation of their ideasaction, an invitation to participate in the voting meetings of residents, during which the applicants of the projects that made it to the second round will present their ideas and a vote will take place. Meetings will be held in a hybrid format – you can participate in them both in person and remotely on the online platform Zoom.

Voting in person for the projects submitted in Kuldīgas district will take place on Wednesday, April 3 from 18.00 to 20.00 at the Kuldīgas Art House (1095 gada iela 6, Kuldīga), for the projects submitted in the Southern Kurzeme region – Thursday, April 4 from 18.00 to 20.00 in the Grobiņa library (Skolas iela 4, Grobiņa) and the projects submitted in Liepāja will be voted on on Tuesday, April 9 from 18.00 to 21.00 in the yard of Pegasus (Kuršu iela 20, Liepāja).

In the first round, the expert commission, consisting of Liepāja 2027 community involvement expert Maija Jankovskis, community involvement expert Ęirts Jankovskis and dramatist Evarts Melnalksnis, selected the most appropriate of the total of 19 submitted projects to advance to the second round. 17 projects made it to the second round.

The final decision on the supported projects will be made by the board of the “Foundation Liepāja 2027” (chairman of the board Inta Šoriņa and two board members Baiba Bartkeviča and Eva Ciekurze), taking into account the recommendations of experts and residents.

Liepaja:

In Kuldīga county:

In order to promote public involvement with the help of various cultural events, at the beginning of March, Liepāja 2027 announced a project competition. In total, 19 project applications were submitted – 12 in Liepāja, three in Southern Kurzeme and four in Kuldīga district.

The total funding available in the project tender is 10,135 euros. One project can be supported with 2027 euros. In total, five activities are planned to be implemented on Europe Day, May 9, with the help of this project competition – three in Liepāja, one in Southern Kurzeme district and one in Kuldīga district.

In parallel with the five events that will receive support in the announced project competition, on May 9 other creative activities organized by Liepāja 2027 to celebrate Europe Day are planned. Pper hour At 18.00 in the territory of the creative (un)peaceful land (in the vicinity of Liepāja, in the cities and parishes of Southern Kurzeme and Kuldīga regions) sails will be hoisted, which will serve as a symbol of our joint journey to the European capital of culture in 2027. Any resident will be able to participate in the design of the sails in order to jointly create a sail design that is unique to their neighborhood, parish, city and highlights the special character of this place. More information about the sail promotion will follow. On the other hand, an exhibition of works of art will be opened in several shop windows in Liepāja on May 9, where the interpretations of creative persons on the topic of (un)peace will be visible.

The project competition is implemented with the co-financing of the Liepaja City Municipality, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and the “CreArt 3.0 STRINGING_TOGETHER ” project of the European Union program “Creative Europe”.

About Europe Day: On May 9, Europe Day is celebrated across Europe with a diverse and wide range of events and is dedicated to peace and unity. This date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration. In his declaration, R. Schuman presented the idea of ​​establishing a new type of political cooperation in Europe, which would make hostilities between European nations unthinkable.
