Georgi Osokina’s only concert in Latvia

Friday, May 10, at 19.00 Osokina within the framework of the Freedom for Ukraine festival The only concert in Latvia by pianist Georgija Osokina (pictured) will be held in the House of Blackheads.

The pianist will meet the New Zealand-born American violinist Geneva Lewis for the first time on stage here (Geneva Lewis).

The concert in the Hall of the House of Blackheads will be dedicated to the memory of Ukrainian freedom fighters and support of the Ukrainian army, civilians and especially Ukrainian children.

“Geneva Lewis (pictured) is a wonderful violinist whose violin playing is characterized by power and velvety. It is a real pleasure for me to meet at the first joint concert of both of them at the festival organized by my brother in Riga,” says Georgijs Osokins.

The musicians will play a versatile program at the concert, focusing on the expression of romanticism and beauty, as well as rarely played compositions: sonatas for violin and piano by VA Mozart, F. Busoni, J. Brahms, E. Elgar. The musicians will also play this program at the prestigious Wigmore Hall in London in May.

New Zealand-born violinist Geneva Lewis has earned a reputation as an accomplished musician whose performances speak from the heart and who is praised for her virtuoso and masterful violin playing.

Geneva made her solo debut at the age of 11 with the Pasadena POPS and has since performed with countless orchestras in the US. In August 2023 Geneva made her debut at the BBC Proms with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Geneva is currently studying at the Kronberg Academy under Professor Michaela Martin. The talented violinist plays a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1776. In the 2024 season, the violinist is scheduled to perform with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, “Kremerata Baltica” together with Gidon Kremer and other famous orchestras.

The Osokina Freedom Festival for Ukraine will take place this year from April 5 to May 12 in Riga and elsewhere in Latvia.

Sunday, May 12, at At 19.00 the closing concert of the festival will take place in the Ziedon Hall of the Latvian National Library (Mūkusalas iela 3, Riga).

In a concert specially dedicated to Mother’s Day, Latvian and Ukrainian artists will agree on common support for families and children in Latvia and Ukraine.

The following will take part in the concert: Ieva Akuratere, Jānis Lūsēns, Zigfrīds Muktupāvels, the band “Citi zēni”, Ingus Ulmanis/”Lādezers”, the vocal group “Midnight Five”, Viktorija Pritulyakas, Anastasija Vasilenko, Anastasija Yachmenkina and Andrejs Osokins.

The festival is dedicated to the support of the Ukrainian army, civilians and especially Ukrainian children, but for the first time, funds will also be collected for the parents of seriously ill children in Latvia.

Every purchased ticket to the festival events is a donation to support the Ukrainian army and civilians, as well as parents of seriously ill children in Latvia.

In cooperation with “Biļešu Paradīze” and Ziedot.lv, the proceeds from festival event tickets and the funds collected in a special campaign on the Ziedot.lv portal will be used for these purposes.
