Kathy Schoenberg shares valuable tips for great family movie nights

--

Empathizing with movie characters can be a great family bonding time, because nothing brings you closer than shared emotions. TV and events host Kathy Schoenberg reveals what to consider when setting up a home theater and recommends movies that parents and kids can enjoy together.

Everyone knows that there are movies that can only be fully enjoyed in the cinema. It is usually associated with impressive visual or sound effects that are impossible to replicate at home. But there is another important aspect of going to the cinema, which is repeatable – it is sharing the enjoyment of a work of art with other viewers – laughing at a joke or catching your breath in a particularly stressful situation. The same can be achieved at home by watching movies in the circle of the closest people, but for this to be successful, several nuances must be taken into account.

Make yourself more comfortable!

Kathy Šönberg explains why it is important to think about the arrangement of the room: “If we want to achieve undivided attention to what we are watching, it is essential to remove possible distractions in time. For example, we must make sure that all viewers can sit comfortably for a long time.

Movie nights can be held indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather and mood. If on a warm summer evening we settle down for a movie night outdoors, we should check in time whether everything works technically – whether there is a place to connect the electricity supply, whether the sound works as it should and the like.

Lighting is also important. It is important that it creates the right mood. It’s not for nothing that the cinema is completely dark, so that you can fully focus on what’s on the screen! This can be replicated to some extent at home, however, leaving some light on in the background. Don’t be so afraid.”

Quality is essential

No matter how pleasant the company is and how comfortable the arrangement is – the evening can be ruined by inappropriate image quality. Therefore, it is worth investing in equipment that provides a decent viewing experience. K. Schoenberg advises: “Samsung projector The Freestyle 2nd Gen. is an excellent device for our lifestyle. It is very easy to duplicate the content shown on Smart TV if we want to watch it somewhere else, for example on a wall or ceiling. It is also very easy to carry and install wherever we want. The adaptability of the projector is impressive – the projected image adapts to the angle and the surface on which it is projected and it provides a sharply focused rectangle of perfect shape.”

High-quality sound is of no less importance, so that with the help of music and sound effects, you can completely immerse yourself in the enchanted world of feature films. The Freestyle 2nd Gen. has a powerful built-in speaker that provides surround sound, so you can do without another dedicated audio playback device.

Movies that are interesting for everyone

Tastes can be very different even within the same family, but for joint entertainment, you should choose content that is interesting for all viewers. K. Schoenberg recommends movies that are popular in her family:

o The Secret Life of Pets

So far, the last movie we’ve all watched together using The Freestyle 2nd Gen. A very nice film for the whole family about the daily life and secret life of pets when their owners go about their daily routines. Since we have our own French bulldog Rosine, this topic is especially relevant. A funny and touching movie, and most importantly, with a happy ending where everyone returns to their owners! And our dog also got extra treats after the movie!

o Sing! and Sing! 2 (Sing 1 and Sing 2)

Also, these movies are even animal themed. The first part was very touching – the little ones were brought to tears. We were waiting for the continuation of the movie, and it didn’t disappoint either! There are no crazy and senseless fights, aggression or stupid jokes, which are unfortunately in many children’s films, but this is really a very nice – singing comedy with a happy ending. Party guaranteed!

o Christmas jampadracis and Circenīš Christmas

A Christmas Carol is a movie from my childhood and we re-watch it every Christmas. Children like it very much. Jokes have already entered our everyday life. You could say that it is a classic – for the whole family.

On the other hand, Circenīš Christmas is a modern comedy. I love that the kids also choose the movies they want to see that they think are relevant and funny. In the summer, you could watch – Limousine in the color of Midsummer night, Emīla’s misdeeds or Boniuk.

o In the wings (Migration)

We went to the cinema for this movie. Little Astrid (3 years old) really liked it, for whom this was her first visit to the cinema. I recommend it even to the smallest viewers. A fun and touching story about little ducklings and their family journey.

o Up (Up)

Love the story and moral of this movie – friendship and how important it is. Now that our children are growing and developing – quarrels and fights are the never-ending daily story, so instructive films with a thought and a nice friendship story are number one on our family list – you will not go wrong with this film. Even the parents will shed a tear!
