“Today, the new Forbes magazine comes out and it is also the last issue I published,” writes the editor-in-chief of the magazine, Katrīna Iļjinska, on the microblogging site ‘X’.
“Five years (the term of the franchise license) flew by without noticing and I must admit that there were more challenges than I wanted. Considering the specifics of the field, the small market and a number of different conditions, I generally do not recommend such an experience. Carrying “suitcases without a handle” is inconvenient and expensive, ” writes K. Iļjinska, at the same time expressing that the magazine could return to stores at the end of summer with a new owner.
In 2019, the US business magazine “Forbes” decided to renew the publication of the magazine in Latvia, in cooperation with SIA “Business magazine”, which was established by Katrīna Iļjinska, the former editor of the Latvian and Estonian editions of “Forbes”.
“The new “Forbes Latvija” will emphasize the importance of digital solutions in the most diverse business sectors and will pay special attention to the most successful international companies, which will allow local entrepreneurs to learn from global experience,” said Iļjinska, publisher of “Forbes Latvija”, at the time.
The Forbes brand reaches more than 120 million people worldwide through 40 licensed publications in 70 countries. The Forbes Media brand also includes licensing agreements in real estate, education and finance.
In August 2018, the publishing house “SK Media” stopped publishing the US business magazine “Forbes” in Latvia and Estonia. The publication was stopped because after the execution of the license agreement, the publisher of “Forbes” magazine “Forbes Media LLC” and “SK Media” did not agree on the terms of a new agreement.
