Working in a factory, believing in a dream and Adele’s work. Katie Marken has been playing Adele for more than ten years

Katie says that she has been performing in musical theater since she was three years old and has always loved the stage. For a long time, the artist thought that it was impossible to make money with music, so she packed the product in the factory, her thoughts changed after the first successes.

At the age of 25, Katie has won several vocal competitions in England, winning £1,000 in one and a trip to Las Vegas in another.

From 2007, the singer started working in men’s clubs and bars, earning 140-160 pounds for one musical performance. Since she still had to pay the agency, she took all the jobs she could to pay the bills, which often meant singing 6 nights a week.

Soon after Markham began working exclusively in music, Adele released the first album that conquered the whole of the United Kingdom. At concerts, Katy received several compliments that she sounded like Adele, which motivated her to perform “Chasing Pavements” and “Hometown Glory”.

Starting to perform Adele’s songs, Katie did not lose her originality, from the very beginning it is important for her to remain herself on stage.

“I have adopted her mannerisms and I definitely have the same sense of humor as Adele. I like to giggle. On holiday in Ibiza, I sang Adele at my resort’s karaoke night. The hotel management was so impressed that they offered me the opportunity to perform for 30 minutes a day for the rest of my vacation. The hotel managers paid for me to fly from the UK to Ibiza several times a year,” says Katie.

Every time there were new people in Ibiza, representing different ages, it helped to learn to connect with the crowd, understand the preferences of different ages and create a suitable repertoire of Adele songs.

After two seasons in Ibiza, Katie found that several of the bars in the UK where she had performed had closed down, work became scarce and she began to lose confidence. In 2013, Katie took part in the show “X Factor”, which allowed her to gain recognition and start performing in hotels, casinos and on cruise ships.

In 2015, the BBC made a program about Adele’s Tribute shows, Katy also participated, performing with Adele is the highest point of her career.

The show led to the creation of The Adele Songbook. Katie has toured the world with shows. The musician is happy that the show provides an alternative choice for people who cannot afford to attend Adele’s concerts because they do not have that much money. Katie emphasizes that the show she created is one of the cheapest Adele Tribute shows, because the main goal is to make people happy – not to make money.

Travels, concerts did not allow Katie to eat healthy, she gained weight and it was Adele’s weight loss that motivated her to resume healthy eating and regain her ideal weight.

The musician believes that Adele has completely changed her life, the hits of the famous singer have touched her soul.
