The Russian elite and Kremlin officials have started a battle for influential positions in the government after Putin’s inauguration, writes dialog.ua.

The main desire is to be as close to power as possible if Putin does not live to the end of his new presidency, – the Russian opposition publication “Meduza” reports that the Kremlin elite has already begun to think about the country’s new government. Many hope for a promotion, while others fear a demotion.

However, some officials say they want to be as close to power as possible in case Putin fails to complete his new six-year term.

In addition, political analysts say that Putin is already looking for a successor. Some Russian media write that both Sobyanin and Kiriyenko could become the new Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. At the same time, one of the sources claims that Mishustin could be approved for the second term.

Some public pages say that Trutnev, the head of the Kemerovo region and the deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation, wants new positions in the government.

Many experts also say that despite Ivanov’s arrest, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Shoigu, will remain in his post.

However, changes in the positions of the Russian elite are unlikely to have a serious impact on decision-making and policy planning at the domestic and international level – a source close to the Russian presidential administration said that Putin is focused on conservatism, eliminating any dissent, winning the war in Ukraine and “moving east”. , possibly referring to Russia’s deepening relations with China, Iran and North Korea.
