It has already been announced that in February Zaluzhny was removed from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The popular general commanded the Ukrainian army since the beginning of the repeated Russian invasion in February 2022.

Under the leadership of Zaluzhny, in the first months of the war, despite the great superiority of the Russians, they managed to stop the invaders near Kyiv and drive them back.

The Ukrainian media called him the “Iron General” and he has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance.

But after the failure of the long-awaited counteroffensive last summer, although the main reason for it was the West’s endless procrastination in supplying the necessary armaments, Zaluzhny began to fall out of favor with the Zelensky administration, and the differences between the two became visible in the open.

Zaluzhnyi was replaced as the commander-in-chief by the current commander of the ground forces, Oleksandrs Sirskis, who once commanded the Ukrainian lightning counterattack in the Kharkiv region in the fall of 2022.
