With the motto «Care is work. Work is care» An international meeting on the protection of work and personal dignity, especially for migrants, is taking place in the Vatican. The initiators of the event are the Dicastery for Integral Human Development and the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC).

Roberto Vitillo, Secretary General of the Commission, points out that respecting workers’ rights and ensuring decent working conditions is the path to effective social change. This is one of the ways to achieve the goals of Social Development by 2030. Priest Vitillo explains that the meeting in the Vatican marks the end of six years of work carried out by representatives of various international Catholic organizations within the framework of the project “The Future of Work after Laudato sì”.

This project included a series of research initiatives, exchange of good practice and publications. Priest Roberto Vitillo told Vatican media that the second phase of the project is now starting. It is attended by 60 experts from the United Nations as well as from across Europe who are committed to building social justice and ensuring labor rights and decent work for all. Academics, trade union representatives and members of the International Labor Organization also participate in the consultations.
