“Nothing will change in the near future, I’m telling you now. Faced with drastic changes in the Russian Federation, their attitude towards the world and their perception of the world cannot change drastically. Understand that they have actually become victims of their own propaganda. It happened, they admit it, let’s say so,” says Budanov.

According to him, Russian society is filled with hatred towards the West and Ukraine. “Even if someone comes now and says: ‘You know, we have stopped,'” stresses Budanov.

The head of the intelligence service offered to imagine a situation where everything would stop and Russia would apologize. “What will Russia believe in a year? These are irreversible processes that have already taken place in society. It takes several years and work,” he said.

Budanov recalled the situation after the Second World War.

“Now, in my opinion, few people consider the Germans as enemies. But a time passed when everything became normal. In the sixties, it was difficult to find someone who considered the then Federal Republic of Germany a friend. So, as the years go by, everything changes. And it is not an easy process ,” explains the head of the Ukrainian intelligence service.
