The World Ice Hockey Championship in Prague and Ostrava begins on Friday, May 10, with four games. First of all, in the first matches of the day in Group A, Switzerland defeated the Norwegian national team, and in Group B, Germany beat Slovakia in a productive match. In the evening game in group A, the host Czech Republic will play against Finland, while Sweden and the USA will meet in the second subgroup.

Ierasti pasaules hokeja čempionātā risināsies 64 spēles. Prāgā notiks A apakšgrupas turnīrs, bet Ostrava uzņems B grupu, kurā spēlēs arī Latvijas valstsvienība. Pēc grupu turnīra abās pilsētās notiks vēl pa divām ceturtdaļfināla spēlēm, bet tad izšķirošie mači tiks aizvadīti Prāgā.
