Game Notes

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn baseball team (27-20, 12-3 BIG EAST) wraps up the home portion of its schedule with a three-game series against Creighton (31-14, 4-10 BIG EAST) beginning on Friday at 6:05 pm Saturday will be a 2:05 pm first pitch and Senior Day will be on Mother’s Day on Sunday at 12:35 pm

Saturday’s game will be HookC Day with the first 100 fans receiving HookC pennants while Sunday’s game will be Senior Day with the Huskies honoring eight seniors and graduate students. Corey Morton, Bryan Padilla, Jake Studley, Stephen Quigley, Michael Quigley, Matt Malcolm, Kieran Finnegan and Joe Cinnella will all be honored while Garrett Coe, Paul Tammaro, TC Simmons, Ryan Hyde and Luke Broadhurst will also be recognized with Sunday being their final game at Elliot Ballpark.

UConn enters the weekend one game up in the BIG EAST standings on St. John’s and have already clinched a berth to the four-team BIG EAST Championship on May 22-25 at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.

The Huskies captured a road series win at Seton Hall last weekend with a standout performance from the starting rotation. Stephen Quigley, Garrett Coe and Ian Cooke all pitched at least eight innings over the course of the weekend, the first time a weekend staff has done that this season.

Creighton enters the weekend tied with the most wins in the conference with 31 on the year. However, the Bluejays are 4-10 in BIG EAST play and are 4.5 games back of the fourth and final BIG EAST Tournament spot with six games remaining.
