A human body was found in the water near the yacht club in Riga; the circumstances of his death are unclear

While sailing with their cutter along the left bank of the Daugava, on Tuesday morning, the two riders on board noticed a quite unusual sight near Mīlestības salinas, namely a backpack floating in the water. In order to make sure that nothing tragic had happened, they steered their boat closer to the bag – the men’s guesses, however, were not confirmed, they saw the remains of a man in the waters of the river.

“The body of a man born in 1968 was found in the water well, with no outwardly visible signs of a violent death. The police are explaining the circumstances of the incident,” explains State Police representative Līga Dziļuma. Shortly after “Degpunkta”, representatives of the State Police also arrived at the scene, and after surveying the scene, cordoned off the area. After a short while, the medics also arrived.

The employees of the marina area of ​​the yacht club who were contacted could not say much about what happened. However, people say that in the morning their work was unexpectedly interrupted by rescuers. Who have come to lift something out of the water.

“Pažarnieki” had arrived and that was it. Well, yes. We have just as much information,’” says one man, who wishes to remain anonymous. Other people they met express only guesses about what happened and what they heard on the spot, but they are not sure of what was said.

As “Degpunkt” found out in a short telephone conversation with the representative of the Riga Freeport Authority, the stopped cutter was seen on Tuesday morning by the ship “Pilot” in charge of the port, which joined forces with the crew of a small boat and brought the deceased to the pier of the territory of the “Auda” yacht club. This version is also confirmed by an eyewitness: “Locis brought. See where the Port Police is. They already handed it over to the Port Police.”

The circumstances of what happened at the moment are still unclear. Also, it is not known what prompted the deceased man to go into the water. Perhaps the person wanted to commit suicide.
