Goalkeeper of the Polish hockey team John Murray revealed in a conversation with the press service of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) that the team is aware of its strength and that of its opponents in the world championship.

It should be reminded that the first opponents of the Latvian national team in sub-group B in Ostrava on May 11 at 7:20 a.m. will be the Polish national team, which competed in the first division last year and returned to the elite after a 22-year break.

“We are realistic. We want to do enough to stay afloat. We know we need to get points against Kazakhstan and/or France. Maybe we can get some points from other teams,” said Murray.

“Right now we can’t say we’re playing very impressively, but we’re ambitious enough,” admitted the goalkeeper. “We are waiting for a spark to appear between us. Now it’s about the process, not the results.”

Latvia’s first opponent, Poland, also includes a teammate of Jak and Zīle

Currently, only 18 ice hockey players apply for the Latvian WC
