In recent weeks, there have been several versions regarding Šmitas’ next club. One of them was the “Monaco” unit. On the other hand, the Latvian media “Sportacentrs.com”, referring to the information at its disposal, reported that Šmits will continue his career in the Spanish top league club “Valencia”.
However, de Lucas reports a potential third club.
“Roland Schmidt is close to a three-year contract with Anadolu Efes. Not Valencia or Monaco,” de Lucas wrote on his platform X account.
The Latvian basketball player spent this and the previous season in the ranks of the Lithuanian basketball giant “Žalgiris” from Kaunas. In the last Euroleague season, Schmidt averaged 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
Istanbul “Anadolu Efes” also participates in the ULEB Euroleague tournament. This season, the Turkish club finished 9th in the standings, which means they will have to participate in play-offs for a place in the knockout matches.
