As already reported, in the 1/8 finals lasting almost three and a half hours, Semenistaja was beaten by Polish tennis players yesterday – 6:7, 7:5, 6:2.

# The 21-year-old Baltic second racket competed today Daria Semenistaya (#113) and 24-year-old Slovenian third-ranked tennis player Veronika Erjavec (#169), who is a clay specialist and had won 18 straight sets on the ITF tour.

These tennis players were competing for the first time, but they know each other well, as they won the Canberra “WTA 125” doubles tournament together at the beginning of the year.

In the ninth game of the match, the representative of Latvia did not use two break opportunities, but did not hold serve at the end of the first set – 5:7. The Slovenian has already won 19 sets on the ITF tour.

The Latvian athlete convincingly served to 4:2, but the Slovenian won the next three games. Semenistaja made it 5:5 without any problems and broke her opponent’s serve (6:5), when the exhausted Slovenian hit twice across the court. In the second set, our tennis player won with 7:5.

→ → In the decisive set, Semenistaja started with a victory on the opponent’s serve, but the opponent responded with the same. The Latvian tennis player triumphed in a long game and thus won a break opportunity, but then Erjavets broke out. Semenistaja served to 4:2 and broke her opponent’s serve again – 5:2. In the third set, the victory with 6:2.

In this match, the winner lost in points after the second serve (40% vs. 48) and first serve success percentage (67 vs. 74), but was superior in points after the first serve (66% vs. 55), break points (7/14 vs. 5/12) and in total points – 110:100.

The semi-finals are worth 39 ranking points and $4,473 in prize money.

on May 4 at 13.00 in the semi-finals, the Argentinian Julia Riera (#94) will face the Spaniard Leira Romero (#300) with 6:2 and 6:0.

Semenistaja will experience a drop in the latest world ranking if she does not make it to the Wiesbaden final. The 80 points earned for the 2023 Prague W60 champion title must be defended this week.
