The teams of the Saeima and the Latvian Hockey Federation will meet on the hockey field

As the world hockey championship approaches, on Friday, May 3, the Saeima hockey team will compete against the team of the Latvian Hockey Federation in a friendly match. This is the second meeting, and previously both teams met in a friendly match last year before the 2023 World Championship in Riga.

MPs Lauris Lizbovskis, Richards Shlesers and Atis Švinka, as well as former MPs Gaidis Bērziņš and Imants Parādnieks, have been announced as members of the Saeima team. Dāvis Mārtiņš Daugavietis, chairman of the Sports Subcommittee of the Saeima Education, Culture and Science Commission, as well as team coach, MP Andris Kulbergs, will strengthen the fighting spirit of the team. The players will also include employees of the Saeima, as well as family members of MPs and employees.

The team of the Latvian Hockey Federation will be represented by former national team hockey players, coaches, employees of the federation, as well as hockey organizers and enthusiasts – Ęirts Ankipāns, Artis Ābols, Helmuts Balderis, Andris Bartkevičs, Toms Broks, Ralfs Bukarts, Lauris Dārziņš, Edgars Gaross, Kristofers Jaks, Edvīns Lapinskis. . The captain of the team will be H.Balderis, but he will be assisted by L.Dārziņš and R.Bukarts.

The Latvian Hockey Federation has invited the Saeima team to a friendly match. It will be opened and encouraging words will be spoken by the speaker of the Saeima, Daiga Mieriņa, and the president of the Latvian Hockey Federation, Aigars Kalvītis.

The friendly match will have three periods of 12 minutes each. After each period, the teams will perform bulls.

After the match, the teams will be awarded, as well as the best striker, defender and goalkeeper of the game, as well as the most valuable, productive and attractive player.

The Saeima hockey team was established in the 10th Saeima and has played many friendly matches since 2011, competing with the Latvian Hockey Federation team and former Latvian national team players, the State Police, Valmiera City Municipal Council, musicians and Farmers’ Saeima teams.

The friendly match between the Saeima and Latvian Hockey Federation teams will take place on Friday, May 3, at “Arena Rīga”, Skanstes Street 21, at 2:00 p.m.
