Australian basketball player enjoys the atmosphere in the Riga derby – Football – Sportacentrs.com

The Riga derby was attended by a large number of “Rīgas Zeļļu” basketball players, who are expected to play the second game of the Latvian Basketball League semi-final series against “Ventspili” on Monday at the Daugava Sports House. If almost all the players and staff representatives of “Rīgas Zeļļu” had decided to attend the game in the attributes issued by their basketball team, then Jordan Hunter, who played two games for the Australian national team, decided to enjoy the game as a true fan. Dressed in the traditional light blue colors of “Riga”, the Australian basketball player enjoyed the game with a souvenir scarf of the country’s richest club around his neck.

Basketball players, of course, were not the only visitors to the Riga derby. In the RFS victory with 2:1 over “Riga” was also the well-known in the society an influencer Felipe Gabriels, who did not wear the attributes of any of the teams, but watched the game in a shirt decorated with the logo of the title sponsor of the tournament.

According to the available game protocols, the largest number of spectators watched the matches of the Premier League in two games in 1997 and 2004, when “Skonto” and “Liepājas Metalurgs” met. We will never know how many fans were present in these games, but 6,500 spectators were recorded in the protocols of both matches. The number of 5,314 spectators recorded in the Riga derby yesterday is the highest number of attendances in the Premier League in the last 20 years.
