The Czech extra league club “Mountfield” of Hradeckrālové has announced the signing of a contract with the striker of the Latvian national team Oskars Batņa.
The 28-year-old Batņa had the best season in his career – he scored 38 (20+18) points in 59 games of the main tournament of the Finnish league as part of the Mikeli “Jukurit” team, and had three assists in six “play-off” matches.
“With the signing of Oskar, we have added another big and strong striker to the squad,” said Mountfiled general manager Aleš Kmonicik. “We already liked Oscar at last year’s World Championship, so we contacted his agent at the beginning of the season and pretty quickly agreed on a one-year contract with the club’s option to extend it for another season. We hope that Oskar will be as productive as in Finland and help us achieve higher results.”
During his career, Batņa spent several years in the Riga “Dinamo” system, and he also played in the Austrian and French championships. As part of the Latvian national team, the hockey player has participated in four world championships, becoming a bronze medalist in the spring of last year.
