This week we already reported on the terrible incident when, after a concert in Dobele, musician Horen Stalbe and his colleague Kristaps Struberg went to a gas station for snacks, where they were attacked and as a result, Stalbe was taken to the hospital. In a conversation with the “1188.lv” portal, Stalbe told more about this attack and how the injuries affect his everyday life.
As the publication “Kas Jauns” wrote, after the concert, the musicians entered the “Circle K” gas station, where they noticed two aggressive men. They allegedly behaved impolitely towards the seller, for which the two musicians reprimanded them.
Although initially it seemed that the situation was resolved without the use of force, at one point one of the men punched Horen in the face so hard that he lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
The injuries were too serious to be treated at home, so the musician went to the Dobele hospital. There, a fracture in the leg was detected, for which Horen was transferred to Riga for surgery.
In a conversation with “1188.lv”, the musician says that he is no longer under medical care and continues treatment at home: “I have a limited ability to move, and therefore everything else – my family, children, my responsibilities – this is the biggest inconvenience. The head and leg hurt minimally, you shouldn’t worry too much about it.”
The aggressive man hit him in the face, but as a result his leg was also broken. How did it happen? As it turns out, breaking a bone in the leg is quite simple: “As the surgeon explained to me in the hospital, the back thin bone of my leg, which is broken, breaks very easily when falling back.”
If the leg turns sharply with support on it, then that bone breaks easily. By the way, you can put it behind your ear.
“Facebook” users may have noticed the post published by culinary blogger Roja Puķe or “Pipars” about donating funds to Horen Stalbe so that he could buy the necessary medicine and cover his daily expenses. When asked how the injuries currently affect the musician’s daily life, Horen says:
“I’m out of line for a while. I have to run cinema events, which I can also run with crutches or a wheelchair, but there are events like DJ sets where you have to stand for long hours, which I can’t do at the moment. Since music and art are my livelihood, both for me and my family, it’s also a bit difficult financially at the moment.”
However, he points out that it will not be a one-sided event. As a thank you for his help, Horen has promised Roy to perform at the upcoming Charity Market Day, which will raise funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Paw Therapy project.
