Several crews of emergency medical doctors, many firefighters and policemen did what they could to ease the suffering of the people injured in the accident in the settlement of Greene near Olaine on Thursday. The intersection of Nomaļi and Jelgavas streets turned out to be fatal for the passengers of the “Renault” car and the “Volkswagen” bus. At a clearly visible intersection, the bus crashed heavily into the side of a passenger car, causing the smaller vehicle to roll into a meadow.
Four medical teams of the NMPD were operating on the spot, including a specialist team of doctors, which is involved in critical situations.
When the medics had finished their work and the victims were taken to hospital for treatment, the police’s conclusions were stark.
“Three persons were injured in the road traffic accident, two of whom were taken to a medical facility with their injuries, and one person died at the scene. The State Police is investigating the circumstances of the accident,” states the representative of the State Police, Līna Bagdone.
Perhaps the consequences of the accident would not have been so severe if the drivers had followed the safety standards. The initial conclusions of the services at the scene led to the understanding that none of the passengers was wearing a seat belt.
