At the VKKF council meeting on April 25, 2024, the results of several tenders and the new composition of industry experts were approved.

624,000 euros have been allocated in regional tenders for the implementation of the target program “Latvian Historical Lands Development Program”.

The program “Development and sustainability of intangible cultural heritage values” will implement projects for 450,000 euros.

300,000 euros have been awarded to 6 projects in the competition of the Baltic Culture Fund.

29 new VKKF experts have been approved.

In the target program Development and sustainability of intangible cultural heritage values funding granted 51 for the project as a whole 450,000 thousands of euros amount. In the tender, 99 projects were applied for the total requested amount of 1,142,415 euros.

Mara Mellen, the chairman of the expert commission of the competition: “The target program also has sub-goals: which emphasize the need to strengthen communities, prepare applications for the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage and support the development of the Song and Dance Festival tradition, promoting the amateur art collective of the common repertoire branches involved in the Song and Dance Festival tradition – choir, dance collective , brass bands and woodwind ensembles – creativity and the emergence of a new cultural offer within the tradition outside the traditional process of the inter-holiday period.”

Target programs “Latvian Historical Lands Development Program” awarded to regional tender projects in five historical lands 642,400 euroswhich will allow realization in general 249 projects.

The purpose of the program is to promote the availability of high-quality culture in Latvian historical lands, as well as to promote learning, preservation and popularization of the uniqueness of Latvian historical lands. The program is administered and organized by an organization (planning regions, municipalities and non-governmental organizations) selected through a competition in each historic land.

In the target program “Creative scholarship program for citizens of Ukraine” granted in April 4 scholarships for the total amount 7,200 euroswhile in the target program Support for creative journeys in the Film Arts industry financing 900 euro granted in the amount 2 projects.

in the project competition of the Baltic Culture Foundation funding granted 6 projects (from the three Baltic States) for the total amount 300,000 euros. The competition received 28 applications for the total amount of 1,606,819 euro.

The Baltic Culture Foundation supports professional events and projects in architecture, visual arts, design, literature, music, performing arts, library, museum and archive sectors, as well as finances interdisciplinary projects.

29 new VKKF industry experts have been approved

Due to partial changes in the composition of the expert commissions of the State Cultural Capital Fund (VKKF), 29 new experts will start their work in May 2024, while 27 experts will continue their work.

Industry expert commissions evaluate submitted projects and provide the VKKF council with an opinion on the distribution of funds for project implementation, as well as monitor the use of allocated funds. VKKF has eight sectoral expert commissions, and each of them has seven people – specialists in the relevant cultural sector. The term of office of experts is two years.

In the field of film art – Inese Boka-Grūbe, Valdis Celminņš;

In the field of cultural heritage – Gustavs Strenga, Roberts Grinberg, Ronald Lusis, Zane Melane;

In the field of literature – Andra Konste, Jolanta Pētersone, Dace Krecere-Vule;

In the music industry – Lauma Malnace, Zane Grosa, Ilze Medne;

In the field of performing arts – Klāvs Mellis, Indra Roga, Lilija Lipora, Mārtiņš Eihe, Ieva Kauliņa;

In the field of traditional culture – Rita Grīnvalde, Eriks Zeps, Māra Wiegert, Gita Lancere;

In the field of visual arts – Aivars Baranovskis, Anna Priedola, Gundega Evelone, Kristaps Epners.
