Nature photos and printed clothes will be on display at the exhibition, informs Iveta Štelmahere, head of public relations and marketing projects of the cultural center.

“Nature is like a primary source of energy, life, peace and harmony.

We both felt the impulse for this project, where nature coexists in clothing and lifestyle,”

the authors of the works say about the idea of the exhibition.

“The exhibits together create interaction and at the same time each one is self-sufficient and sustainable, because artistic clothing passes through the years and highlights the originality of the wearer, while large-format photographs are a wonderful way to complement the interior of the home.”

Vineta Jaunzeme, a member of the folk photo studio “Fotast”, has been fascinated by photography since childhood, when she studied family albums with great interest and watched her father’s activities – he knew how to take pictures, develop pictures in all kinds of chemicals and, as Vineta says, he became a real miracle in the dark room.

“The Applied Art High School in Liepāja gave me good foundations in the sense of composition and color. I am constantly improving my knowledge and improving myself in various photo master classes.

I am inspired not only by nature, but also by all the people around me, because when I photograph people, I get a unique exchange of energy and creative fulfillment from this process.”

The nature photos exhibited in the exhibition are about the magic and realness of the moment.

In order to accurately preserve the mood and feelings of that moment, the natural colors have not been changed in the photographs: “It has also happened that while taking photographs, you have to hold your breath for a while to make the magical moment last longer. These are feelings that cannot be formulated in words, captured in a photograph,” V. Jaunzeme describes the process of creating the works.

On the other hand, Iveta Deģe, a member of the folk applied art studio “Kursa”, said that her mother introduced her to the world of handicrafts, encouraged by her, she created her first work at the age of five.

At that time, the knitting stitches were worn out and the knitting had holes. Now Iveta’s carefully knitted works are considered by many to be machine-made.

This time, various clothes printed in the ecoprint technique are on display at the exhibition.

“Recently, I have been fascinated with creating prints of plant leaves on fabric. There is great mystery in this process, as the result is not known until the last moment.

The process of choosing and collecting plants, as well as placing them on the fabric, is both actively creative and meditative at the same time,”

said I. Deħe.

The artists wish everyone to find a moment to put aside the daily rush and get pleasure, through photographs and textile works, realizing the unity of man with nature, feeling how love, gratitude and trust arise in this interaction.

The exhibition can be viewed for free until May 30.
