On Thursday, April 25, a traditional tree planting cleanup was held in Ventspils, during which, as a result of joint work, the city was supplemented with 37 new plantings of decorative trees.
This spring, tree planting was organized in two places in the city. The clean-up began in the chestnut alley of Kuldīgas Street opposite the Ventspils State 1st Gymnasium, where a total of 15 new trees – nine pink horse chestnuts and six mountain maples – were planted in cooperation with the Latvian spring and natural mineral water producer “VENDEN”. Latvian spring and natural mineral water producer “VENDEN” has been taking care of the environment for several years and has been implementing a tree planting campaign, adding new trees to the greenery of various Latvian cities. Last year, as a result of a public vote, it was determined that this year Ventspils municipality will receive new plantings as a gift from “VENDEN”.
On the other hand, in the continuation of the tree planting cleanup, the residents were invited to gather in Katoļu Street, where 22 Dutch lindens were planted in the section from Jūras Street to Pētera Street.
Over time, tree planting cleanup has become a favorite tradition of the city of Ventspils, which gathers both big and small every year. This year, the collective of Ventspils State 1st Gymnasium, residents of Katoļu Street, families with children and other friends of nature responded to the invitation to participate in joint tree planting. Also, together with the residents, representatives of the management of the Ventspils State City Municipal Council, Ventspils Komunālā pravade and the municipality SIA Ventspils beautification complex participated in the tree planting.
