A typing error accidentally breaks up a happy couple’s marriage

--

As we know, to err is human. Sometimes we make mistakes that don’t have major consequences, but there are times when mistakes can get us into big trouble. This happened to a law firm in Great Britain.

Due to a typo, an employee of a law firm accidentally divorced a couple who didn’t want it at all, UPI reports.

A British couple discovered, quite by accident, that their 21-year marriage had ended without their knowledge.

Mr. and Mrs. Williams had gone to the London law firm “Vardags” to complete the necessary documents. Their goal was not to divorce. Later, they accidentally learned that due to a mistake made by an employee, both are “free people” or no longer legally married.

As it turns out, at the time the couple needed the services of a lawyer, another couple had filed for divorce at the same time. A clerk at the firm rewrote and granted the Williams a divorce, not the couple who requested it.

The employee is said to have mixed up the case materials and requested the divorce of the fake couple, which was done.

Only two days after the incident, the lawyers discovered the mistake and asked the court to cancel the requested divorce. However, the court refused to correct this error. The court stated that it was not going to annul the divorce because it was not in accordance with the law.

This means that if a couple wants to be married again, they must remarry.
