“Sadales tīkls” organizes an event for its employees, the task of which is to get to know the everyday life of the national guard and not to be afraid of various challenges.
This time, several dozen people from all over Latvia met in the usual conditions for the guards – in the forest. Before that, the meeting with the national guards also took place in the warm office premises.
When asked what was the most difficult thing, “Sadales tīkls” employee Igors Gobalov says: “Teamwork. If you run by yourself, everything is simple, but when you are in a team, you think as one organism.”
On the other hand, the company’s employee Denīze Briede says: “Given the current situation in the world, I want to understand and feel more for myself what our honorable citizens undertake in defending Latvia. Confidence that at any time of the day they are ready to go to defend.”
However, the main intention of the “Distribution Network” is to establish a department of critical infrastructure, so that in a crisis situation employees have the skills to act and the ability to protect important objects. Therefore, everyone is invited to join the National Guard.

Looking at the employees of the “Distribution Network”, we see that the response is quite broad, and we already have 40 national guardsmen throughout Latvia. We also invite the other colleagues: we tell stories, motivate them to see the everyday life of land guards, dispel various myths. If I join the National Guard, where I have time off, I won’t see my loved ones. There are colleagues who think that we leave our family for a month, then come back. It is not so.
In a crisis situation, the national guards will be an essential support for the soldiers of the armed forces. Their professionalism and numbers can affect the combat capabilities of an army.

I would also like to invite the owners of other critical infrastructure to evaluate, maybe there are opportunities and the desire to organize such critical infrastructure units in other objects. From the point of view of the national defense system, it is very important for us that all these critical services are provided on a daily basis and in times of crisis or war. The task of these units is to ensure safety in such facilities.
After the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, many Latvian citizens had an increased interest in the National Guard, but in the second year of the war, the activity decreased for various reasons. Currently, there are approximately 9,500 people in the National Guard.
