One of the defendants, 35-year-old Latvian citizen Georgijs Poniza, claimed in court that being in prison was harmful to his health.

The case was adjourned last week as the two criminals, who were already in custody on human trafficking charges, faced new charges.

Georgi Poniza’s lawyer, Catherine Henry, told the court that her client wanted to know when the body of evidence would be ready.

“My client has been in custody in connection with this case since last October. It’s been adjourned, adjourned, adjourned.

There seems to be no progress on this matter. He has health problems and is not being treated. He was told several times that the evidence would be ready, but nothing happened,” she said.

The judge stated that when bringing new charges, the state has the right to 42 days to prepare a set of evidence and neither the court nor the defense can do anything about the case.

The lawyer also asked for legal aid to be expanded to include analysis of allegations and confirmation of the use of forged documents. The court agreed to extend legal aid for this purpose.
