Concerts are organized by the Untamed Music Society forest of sounds, as well as a platform dedicated to innovative music SHAPE+, supported by the European Union. May 22 at the bar Aleponia (Ernesta Birznieka-Upīša Street 22) will perform SABIWA in cooperation with local musicians Posverdad Trax and Sarmas Gabrens. The concert starts at 20.00

Medium A Closer Listen about SABIWA writes: “Of all the musicians whose work we have reviewed on this website, SABIWA is the most eclectic. The diversity of her music is incredible, ranging from ambient to gabber and folk in one album.”

Meanwhile, the media PopMatters sums up her aesthetic: “SABIWA weaves the traditional music forms of Taiwanese ethnic groups into a strange, flexible ‘concrete music.’ SABIWA relies on Taiwan’s natural beauty and tradition to create a record that defies comfortable categorization and rewards those who listen carefully to the music over and over again.” These words were said about the recording of the musician Island no.16 – Memories of Future Landscapes, which was released by the label in 2023 Phantom Limb.

In this concert SABIWA will cooperate with Latvian experimental musicians Posverdad Trax and Sarmas Gabrens.

Posverdad Trax is the cross-genre electronic music project of Andrejas Zālīš. Zālītis has previously worked in such projects focused on noise music as HalfH HalfW, Pro Statik/Andrickson and Streets of Sex, while in October 2020 the project Posverdad Trax debut record The Neutral Sin published by the prominent experimental electronic music label Opal Tapes.

Cellist and electronic musician Sarma Gabrēna was once described as a “magician of sounds”. She works with sound artists, writers and performance artists, and there are also bands Grab in the composition. Nature, especially the forest, is a great source of inspiration for Sarma, and the musician says that with the help of sounds she tries to remind her listeners of their connection with all living things.

on May 23 in the cultural hall Sand (Eduarda Smilģa street 34A) will perform white in collaboration with artist Līga Stibi and Estonian-Latvian experimental vocalist Eleonora Kampi. The concert starts at 20.00

white is a Berlin-based Korean music and performance art project that combines elements of Korean traditional music and post-club music with black metal vocals. white among the realized creative collaborations is a tour with avant-garde cellist Okyun Lee (Okkyung Lee) and joint events with noise musician Pharmakon and percussionist Eli Kessler (Eli Keszler). white performances have taken place at festivals such as CTM in Berlin, Unsound in Krakow and Rewire in The Hague.

white debut album Noise and Cries Published jointly by the publishing house on April 12 Subtext and the festival Unsound. Medium The Quietus writes about the recording: “This is the first time heard on the recording white voice. And what a voice! [..] This roar resembles the gradual awakening of a sleeping dragon, which surrounds and protects us in its roar.”

Performance in the cultural space Sand will be special because it will happen without voiceover – white will collaborate with visual artist Līga Stibi and Estonian-Latvian experimental vocalist Eleonora Kampi. The juxtaposition of private and public will be explored, transformed into dissonant, fictional stories, forming an association with Freud’s defined unheimlich a concept where the familiar becomes numbingly scary and the line between fantasy and reality blurs. Performers, using voice and breath, will create noises that will embody the memories of found objects, bringing them back from oblivion. As visual sound objects interact with performative voice and movement, viewers will be encouraged to think about belonging, roots and memory of place.

Eleonora Kampe, also known as eleOnora, has been practicing non-traditional vocal techniques and developing his voice since 2010. She works both as a solo artist and as a member of free improvisation duets Road To Saturn and Tencu/eleOnora. Also of note is her experimental blues project Ringhold.

In October of this year, Kampe recorded his first solo album tuuljamuud – published by a British publisher Cruel Nature Records.

Kampe is among those Baltic avant-garde musicians who manage to maintain an international reputation – her music has been played, for example, by radio stations BBC3 broadcasts Late Junction and Freeness.

Līga Stibe is an artist who uses digital and analog photography, photograms, found photos, photo films and objects in her visual communication. Explores the boundaries between private and public, intimate and alienated. Interested in the relations of power, sexuality and society. Currently experimenting with sculptural forms and materiality of photographic work.
