The fee for visiting public toilets for adults has been changed

At the meeting of the Jelgava City Council, the fee for visiting the public toilets managed by SIA “Zemgales EKO” was revised – from tomorrow, April 26, this service will cost adults 0.40 euros including VAT. The price of the service for students will not change, and the fee exemption for children and persons with disabilities also remains valid.

Until now, adults paid EUR 0.30 for visiting the public toilets managed by “Zemgales EKO”, but from April 26 the fee will be up to EUR 0.40. Explaining the reason for the price change, the production director of “Zemgales EKO”, Kristīne Stukina, states that the fee for visiting the toilet was last updated in 2019, and during these five years the cost of toilet management has increased.

It is important to emphasize that the fee for visiting the toilet will remain the same for students – the service will be available to them for 0.10 euros. On the other hand, preschool children, as well as persons with disabilities, do not have to pay for public toilets, as before. It should be noted that the decision approved earlier at the council meeting, which provides for the exemption of children under 18 years of age from the fee for using the city’s public toilets in Ozolskvere and Uzvaras Park, also remains in force. On the other hand, public toilets are available for all residents free of charge in the Post Island and Raina Park. It should be noted that, due to technical reasons, the stationary toilets in Raini’s Park have not been working since last year, instead a mobile toilet has been provided near the children’s playground.

“Zemgales EKO” operates public toilets in the square behind the cultural center, in Uzvaras park, in Raina’s park, in Ozolskvēr, at the parking lot of the Holy Trinity Church tower, in Postal Island, in the area of the city bus station, as well as at the railway stop “Cukurfabrika” on Pārmiju street 2. All eight toilets are regularly cleaned and disinfected in accordance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

In most cases, the working hours of stationary toilets in the city are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., toilets at the “Cukurfabrika” railway station are available from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and at the bus station – from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
