This week, Library Week is celebrated in Latvia. Its motto is “Libraries and reading”. Today, the library has become a center of cultural and social life, a place to acquire new skills and knowledge, learn media literacy, collaborate and meet. Also, educational and entertaining events are held in the library, however, the value of libraries remains unchanged.

Therefore, the total stock of the Jelgava City Library and its branches reaches 121,139 content units in April this year – books, magazines, newspapers, audio/video, games, etc.

Jelgava libraries invite their readers to visit several exhibitions during Library Week.

But at the end of Library Week, on April 28 from 12 to 3 p.m., the Jelgava City Library at Akadēmijas Street 26 invites Jelgava residents to the Courtyard Festival. Visitors to the courtyard festival will be able to play large-format games, fold origami, work in the sensory corner, visit the “Storyteller’s tent”, see the “Jelgava book publishers” exhibition, and the “Reader gives a reader” shelf will also be open during the festival.
