With this guiding principle, the National Guard encourages everyone not only to think about the fact that everything that is important to each of us must also be protected, but also that the country’s present and future, well-being and existence depend primarily on each individual’s actions and initiative.

“There are more than two million reasons to love Latvia – family and friends, hockey and the Song Festival, sea and meadows, blue lakes and green forests, the sound of the language and the breath of freedom. There are just as many reasons to protect Latvia, and each of them can be told in four in the words: My Latvia. My responsibility,” said the commander of the National Guard.

“There are millions of ways to make Latvia strong. National Guardsmen and soldiers are ready to protect Latvia from the first second, from the first centimeter. Every person in Latvia can do this, both by directly participating in the defense of Latvia, serving in the National Guard or supporting the armed forces in training, and on a daily basis, doing his work, taking care of his resilience in the information space and readiness for various threats or any other of the more than two million reasons that mean Latvia to each of us,” said the commander of the National Guard.

“My Latvia. My responsibility” is a guiding principle for comprehensive national defense initiated and created by Latvian National Guardsmen, which reminds every Latvian person of our responsibility to protect Latvia and everything that is dear to us.

“This can become a guiding principle for every person in Latvia, reminding not only of our common, but also of everyone’s personal responsibility to protect Latvia,” states the National Guard.

Therefore, the National Guard encourages you to use this motto on a daily basis, share it, live, work and celebrate with it, in order to remember yourself and remind others that we are responsible for our Latvia, its present and future, for everything we are proud of and love. all together and first of all – each of us.
