31 rivers or their sections have been added to the list of fishing prohibition periods, because the importance of these watercourses and the productivity of one-summer trout are equal to or greater than the rivers currently mentioned in the list.

With the amendments to the regulations, the list of waters allowed for underwater hunting has been added. Based on the submitted proposals, the opinions provided by municipalities on the possibilities of underwater hunting in the waters within their administrative territory, as well as the instructions of the Nature Protection Board (DAP) on which waters should not be freely accessible for underwater hunting for nature protection purposes, a list of waters where underwater hunting can be practiced , has been increased to 79 waters.

Also, the amendments to the regulations provide for the right of local governments to determine the waters in which it may be allowed to harvest species of narrow-clawed crayfish, spiny crayfish and signal crayfish in addition to the species already included in the list added to the regulations. Crayfish can be obtained if the approval of the Scientific Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment “Bior” has been received and, if necessary, also the conditions for the extraction of crayfish resources.

Some editorial improvements and clarifications of legal norms have also been made in the regulations.

The regulations “Amendments to the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of December 22, 2015 No. 800 “Fishing, crabbing and underwater hunting regulations”” will enter into force the day after their publication in the official publication “Latvijas Vēstnesis”.
