On April 10 at 19.00 at the Culture Center “Pearl of Ulbroka” there will be a performance by the Daile Theater “Where the country disappeared”. Playwright Matīs Gritzmani’s documentary detective was inspired by the plays of the famous artist Raimonds Stapráns. The occupation of Latvia and the dubious actions of Latvian statesmen in June 1940 are one of the darkest pages of our history. At its center is the self-proclaimed leader of the country, Kārlis Ulmanis. His personality continues to arouse interest, skepticism and admiration. But what was it really like? Could Latvia have preserved its freedom even in the darkest moment of history, if Ulmanis had acted differently?

The performance was inspired by two Daile Theater productions – “Gūsteknis in the Palace” (2011) and “Four Days in June” (1989), especially Ulmanis played by the legendary Uldas Vazdik in the Renaissance production, which took place in the current Presidential Palace, the last office of President Ulmanis.

Cast: Imants Strads (President Ulmanis), Juris Bartkevičs (General Balodis), Toms Veličko (Researcher Kārlis Ulmanis), Kaspars Dumburs (Alfrēds Bērziņš), Andris Bulis (Vilhelm Munters), Mārtiņš Upenieks (Jānis Rudums).
