In four nominations, the annual award in culture “White Sparrow” of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of Riga Municipality will be presented to express appreciation for ensuring a high-quality cultural process in the capital, informs the Department of External Communication of the Riga City Council.

Art teacher Anita Gercāne of Bolderāja Music and Art School will be honored in the nomination “For long-term and significant professional contribution”. She will receive an award for her significant contribution to the field of art pedagogy over 30 years of work.

Ruta Lasmane, deputy director of the Association of Cultural Institutions of Riga Municipality, will also be honored in this nomination. She will receive an award for long-term and significant professional contribution to the development and growth of municipal cultural institutions.

The “White sparrow” nomination “Employee of the Culture and Cultural Education Institution of the Municipality of Riga” will be presented to Inese Ruskula, head of the Torņakalna branch library of the Riga Central Library, for providing a modern universal library service and promoting reading.

In this nomination, the horn and trumpet pedagogue of the Jugla Music School, conductor of the school brass and symphony orchestra Mārcis Miķelsons will also receive an award for his excellent work as a teacher and successful implementation of international cooperation and educational projects in 2023.

Two laureates will receive the award in the nomination “Amateur Art Collective Leader”. Jurďs Cābulis, the artistic director of the youth choir “Kamēr…” of the concert organization “Ave Sol” of the association of cultural institutions of the Riga municipality, will receive the award for artistically high-quality creativity and outstanding achievements in popularizing choral music.

On the other hand, the prize for a significant contribution to the popularization of traditional culture and the organization of patriotism-promoting concert lectures in educational institutions will be presented to Edgars Lipor, the artistic director of the “Wolves” folklore ensemble of the “Imanta” cultural center of the municipal authority “Pārdaugava Culture Association”.

In the nomination “Cooperation project and cooperation in reflecting the cultural process”, the award will be presented to Armands Blumberg and the creative group of SIA “Basemotion” for the implementation of the artistically high-quality drone show “Keys of Riga”, celebrating the 822nd birthday of Riga.

Also, the award in this nomination will also be presented to the artist Andris Eglītis for the development of a contemporary artistic concept for the audiovisual sound installation “Touch of Light” in Arcadia Park in November 2023 during the National Holiday program.
