The disease was detected in 31 wild boars in Madona county last week, including 12 wild boars in Bērzaune parish, eight wild boars in Mētriena parish, seven wild boars in Kalsnava parish and four wild boars in Arona parish.

Also, the virus was detected last week in nine wild boars in Sunākste Parish of Aizkraukle County, eight wild boars in Valmiera County, including seven wild boars in Rencēni Parish and one wild boar in Kauguru Parish, as well as four wild boars in Limbažu County, including two wild boars in Brivzemnieku Parish and two wild boars in Limbažu Parish.

Since June 2014, when ASF was registered for the first time in Latvia, the virus was detected in a total of 8724 wild boars, including in 2014 ASF was detected in 217 wild boars in Latvia, in 2015 – 1048, in 2016 – 1146, in 2017 – 1431, in 2018 in 2019 – 430, in 2020 – 377, in 2021 – 448, in 2022 – 1274 wild boars, and in 2023 – 1002 wild boars.
