Wednesday, March 27, at 11.18 The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received information that smoke is coming from the roof of the second floor of a two-story residential building on Pilskalnas Street in Bauska. Arriving at the scene, firefighters and rescuers found that three rooms on the second floor of a partially inhabited building were on fire, totaling 50 m2 in area.

One person was evacuated from the building before firefighters arrived. On the other hand, throughout Latvia, VUGD received a total of 71 calls – 44 for extinguishing fires, of which 21 for extinguishing bushfires and two forest fires, 16 for rescue work, but 11 calls were false.
