Since the beginning of the week, 189 traffic accidents have been registered in the Riga region, in which one person died and seven people were injured, including two pedestrians, one cyclist and two drivers of electric scooters, according to the information of the State Police.
On Wednesday, at around 9:00 a.m. in Riga, on Zilaja Street, the driver of a forklift “Volvo” hit a pedestrian, who died at the scene of the accident. The state police explains the circumstances of the accident.
Since Monday, ten drivers of vehicles under the influence of alcohol have been arrested in Riga and around the capital. Two drunken drivers have been issued an administrative violation report, while eight will be held criminally liable. Four caught drivers will have their vehicle confiscated, and in the same cases, its value will be recovered.
During the last three days, 141 administrative violation protocols for speeding and 13 protocols for aggressive driving were drawn up in the Riga region, as well as one car theft and three thefts from a home.
