Maestro Raimonds Pauls is an immeasurably talented Latvian composer and pianist, and his talent is admired not only in Latvia, but also in other parts of the world. On January 12, the composer celebrated his 88th birthday. But as it turns out, Paul does not have a great relationship with some popular Latvian musicians.

The singer Ieva Akuratere is also one of the most talented artists in Latvia, but giving an interview to the magazine “Ievas Stāsti”, she admitted that she had a bad relationship with Maestro Raimonds Paula. As it turns out, there were several reasons for this.

In 2020, Ieva gave an interview to the program “Jautā – Jums”, where she talked about the legendary song “Manai tautai (Help God)”. She said that at that time this song was so powerful because it addressed the people who had left Latvia. At that time, these people who had crossed the country’s border were considered “anti-state” elements, and this song was said to be the one that appealed to them – to go home. The second most important message of this song is that Latvia must be free.

Ieva answered that, in her opinion, this could happen if a woman came to power. Because it is women who clean the house and they could also clean the country. Because women, unlike men, do not fight for power, but try to negotiate everything. She admitted that it was only one of her versions.
