From September 19 to 30, as part of the fall phase of the military exercise “Namejs 2022”, the international military exercise “Silver Arrow 2022” organized by the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces will take place at the Ādaži training ground, as well as in Ādaži, Ropaži, Saulkrasti and Sigulda counties.
The National Armed Forces informed that the aim of the military exercises is to improve mutual cooperation between the armed forces of NATO countries, to integrate elements of combat support and combat support for the support of maneuver units, to plan and execute offensive and defensive operations, as well as to certify the combat group of NATO’s extended presence in Latvia.
The units participating in the exercise will demonstrate the interoperability and combat readiness of NATO members in several exercises and joint tactical-level training operations, strengthening NATO’s principles of collective defense and contributing to deterrence.
About 4,200 soldiers from the USA, Denmark, France, Latvia, Great Britain, Poland, Germany, Hungary and the battle group of NATO’s extended presence in Latvia are participating in the “Silver Arrow 2022” military exercises. During the military exercises, aircraft of the allied armed forces, including combat helicopters “AH-64 Apache” will fly in the airspace of Latvia, as well as the movement of military equipment along the main and regional roads of Latvia.
The national armed forces call on the citizens of Latvia to treat the ongoing military exercises with understanding, which are aimed at improving the state’s defense capabilities and strengthening regional security.
