Apple iPad 10th gen vs OnePlus Pad: Which one to buy in 2024? | Technology News

--

After the launch of the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models at the recently concluded Let Loose event, Apple announced that the iPad 10th gen is getting a price cut, bringing down the price of the cheapest Apple tablet in line with the OnePlus Pad.

If you are looking for a tablet for entertainment and work purposes, here’s a quick comparison between the Apple iPad 10th gen and the OnePlus Pad that will help you decide which tablet to spend your money on in 2024.

Design and display

Both the Apple iPad 10th gen and OnePlus Pad have a metal-unibody design that looks and feels great. These tablets have rounded corners and look similar from a distance, but if you look closely, the OnePlus Pad has a huge circular rear camera island that gives it a distinct look but makes it impossible for the tablet to lay flat on a surface.

In terms of size, the Apple iPad 10th gen with its 10.9-inch IPS LCD screen is a bit smaller than the OnePlus Pad which packs an 11.61 LCD screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. And while both screens have a maximum brightness of 500 nits, the Apple iPad 10th gen has a slightly lower resolution than the OnePlus Pad, but owing to its smaller screen, this doesn’t seem to make any difference. And while the OnePlus Pad is available in only one colourway – Halo Green, the iPad 10th gen comes in four colors – blue, pink, yellow and grey.

Performance

The Apple iPad 10th gen is powered by the A14 Bionic, the same chip that powers the iPhone 12 series. On the other hand, the Oneplus Pad packs the MediaTek Dimensity 9000.

Festive offer

Going by the benchmarks, the iPad 10th gen is approximately 10 to 15 per cent slower than the OnePlus Pad, but when it comes to multitasking, browsing the internet or watching videos, there is virtually no difference between the two.

Also, the base model of the iPad 10th gen comes with 64GB storage, which is half the OnePlus Pad’s 128GB variant, so if you are looking for a tablet to play games or install a lot of apps on, the OnePlus Pad with its double storage capacity is the way to go.

Software

The main difference between the Apple iPad 10th Gen and the OnePlus Pad is the software. Apple’s iPadOS is designed to take advantage of the bigger screen, making the device feel stable and refined. However, Android isn’t far behind. The OnePlus Pad has several tricks up its sleeve that make multitasking a breeze.

If you are a part of the Apple ecosystem, the iPad 10th gen makes more sense, but if you own an Android device, the OnePlus Pad will be easier to use. Another advantage the iPad 10th gen has over the OnePlus Pad is in terms of software support. Apple supports its devices for years to come, but the OnePlus with its 3 Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches isn’t far behind.

Charging

One area where the Apple iPad 10th gen loses out to the OnePlus Pad is the charging speed. While Apple does not officially disclose charging speeds, the latest iPad ships with a 20W charging brick, which is way slower than the OnePlus Pad’s 67W fast charging support. So if you want a tablet that can juice up pretty quickly, the OnePlus Pad is the clear winner.

Apple iPad 10th gen vs OnePlus Pad: Which one to buy?

The Apple iPad 10th gen with its well-optimized software and update policy is an easy recommendation for those who want a big screen device to watch movies, browse the internet and play some occasional games. However, if you are a part of the Android ecosystem and want a tablet with a high refresh rate screen, loud speakers and don’t care about the latest Android version, the OnePlus Pad (review) is the way to go.

The Apple iPad 10th gen starts from Rs 34,900 whereas the OnePlus Pad can be purchased for Rs 33,999.
