In the second most anticipated fight of the Brazilian show, 37-year-old Jose Aldo brushed off the rust in front of his hometown crowd in Rio de Janeiro and once again showed everyone that he is ready to continue his career in the Octagon. Aldo defeated young prospect Jonathan Martinez by unanimous decision.
This was the last fight of Aldo’s current UFC contract, leading many to believe that he might hang up the gloves in the middle of the cage and officially retire, but Jose hinted at another possible title run.
Last summer, Aldo was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Jose has been the long-time UFC featherweight champion, defending it seven times. He has gained wide recognition for his indescribable talent and fighting skill.
Aldo’s upcoming opponent Martinez, on the other hand, had won six in a row. In total, the 29-year-old Martinez has won 10 victories in 14 fights in the UFC.
