The 39-year-old Deignolts is leading the “Thunder” team for the fourth season and he claimed the best coach award last year as well.

Daignolts has become the second “Thunder” coach to be recognized as the best specialist of the year. Before him in 2010, Scott Brooks won a similar honor.

Under Daignolt’s leadership, the Oklahoma City team finished the regular season with 57 victories in 82 matches, which allowed them to triumph in the Western Conference.

Last season, “Thunder” finished with a 40-42 record in the regular season, improving it by 17 wins this season and entering the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

The Thunder haven’t made it past the first round of the playoffs since 2016, but currently lead the series against the New Orleans Pelicans 3-0.

Deignolt won the vote by a landslide, receiving 89 of the first 100 places and 473 points. Orlando Magic’s Jamal Mosley collected four first-place votes and 158 points, while Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch was third with one first-place vote and 105 points.

NBA season awards are given for performance in the main tournament.
