Evans wins the Monaco e-Prix, double victory for the Jaguar team : F1LV Blog

Thanks to a great team strategy, Mitch Evans became the winner of the Formula E race at the Monaco circuit at the weekend. Nick Cassidy took second place, as a result of which the Jaguar team won a double victory.

The two New Zealanders put in a dominant performance at the Monaco e-Prix, which was extended by two laps due to several safety car periods. Evans led for most of the race.

From pole position championship leader Pascal Wehrlein started, initially holding the leading position. “Jaguar” drivers Evans and Cassidy started the fight from the second row after mistakes made in qualifying. At the start, Stoffel Vandoorne maintained second place, but Evans got ahead of his teammate.

Wehrlein lost the lead when he entered after Attack Mode, and so did Vandoorne. Cassidy, on the other hand, slowed down his followers so that Evans could get to his “Attack Mode” but lose as little as possible. As a result, Evans quickly increased his lead and went into Attack Mode not only on lap 11, but also on lap 13, holding the lead both times. Evans then moved ahead of his partner, who also held on after receiving his second ‘Attack Mode’, but later handed the lead back to Evans.

As a result, Evans got his first victory this season, Cassidy finished less than a second behind, while DS Penske’s Vandoorn took third place, crossing the finish line almost four seconds behind the winner. Fourth place went to his teammate Jean-Eric Vergne, while Porsche’s Wehrlein finished fifth.

This was the eighth round of the Formula E season. The next race weekend is May 11 and 12 in Berlin, where the next two stages will be held. Before that, Wehrlein maintains the lead in the overall standings, to whom Cassidy loses seven points, but the others are also not far behind. Evans is in fifth position after this victory, 25 points behind the leader.
