In the fourth round of the MotoGP season held in Spain on Sunday, the current champion Francesco Bagnaia from the Ducati team won. Before that, Jorge Martin took first place in the crash-filled sprint race, but the Pramac Ducati rider retired in the Grand Prix.

In the sprint, Martin held the lead at the start, but was then overtaken by Marc Marquez. His hopes of a first victory for Gresini Ducati were not fulfilled, as Marquez crashed on the ninth lap, after which Martin took the lead. A total of 15 falls were experienced. Soon after Marquez, Alex Macres, Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder, who were in third, fourth and fifth positions at the time, lost their bikes in turn five. Bagnaija had also fallen at the beginning. Marquez won by less than three seconds over Pedro Acosta on the GasGas bike, while third place went to Dani Pedrosa, who returned to the championship as a wildcard rider for the KTM team.

In the main race on the Jerez circuit, the season leader Martins again fought for the victory, he was also in the lead, but experienced a fall long before the finish line and retired. Bagnaija became the winner, beating Mark Marques by just 0.3 seconds at the finish, both of whom played an intense duel. Marko Bedzeki from “VR46” completed the top three, while Alex Marquez and Bastianini crossed the finish line. This time, Pedrosa retired early in the race.

After four rounds, Martin leads the MotoGP standings, with Bagnaia now trailing by 17 points. The next stage is on May 12 in France, at the Le Mans circuit.
